During the great Age of Sail, clipper ships raced from the Far East to England with their holds full of tea. The first ship into the harbor would fetch the highest price per pound of that year’s crop.

Despite their speed for the day, ocean-going tea traveled slowly. The round trip from London to China and back took upwards of 120 days!
